Spotlight on P.E.
Following the 'lockdown', as a school community we have taken the decision to raise the profile of Physical Education (P.E.) in our school to ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to improve their physical wellbeing.
Pupils at Our Lady of Walsingham, have PE timetabled a minimum of three times per week through which we develop core skills to enable children to become well rounded sportsmen and women as set out in the new National Curriculum. Children are given the opportunity to swim during KS2 and we aim for all pupils leaving the school to be able to swim at least 25m.
All pupils also have the opportunity to complete the National Cycling Proficiency scheme in KS2.
All pupils take part in a range of tournaments and sports festivals both within school (Intra-competitions) between year groups and with other schools (Inter-competitions).
We are members of the South Sefton Schools Sports Partnership and work very closely with other schools.
It is our intention and commitment to our pupils, that all pupils will have the opportunity to represent the school at a sporting event before they leave Year 6.
