AUTUMN TERM
CHRISTMAS PARTY
Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their party. We even had a visit from Father Christmas - at the classroom door. Lots of prizes were given out for some fabulous dancing - I have, obviously, taught you well!
PERSUASIVE SPEECHES
The children worked extremely well in planning, writing and performing their own persuasive speech. They incorporated all of the 'persuasive devices' learnt, and were effective in their aim of persuading men to join the army and fight the war. Well done!
Year 6's Star of the Day for Thursday was MRS HALPIN! Well done Mrs Halpin, well deserved!
CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT
A huge thank you to all of the children who returned to school and participated in our CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT. You were absolutely outstanding. The readings, singing and effort was estupendo! I am so proud of every single one of you.
All children received a 'thank you' treat in school - HOT CHOCOLATE!
MUSEUM OF LIVERPOOL AND ANFIELD STADIUM
Year 6 enjoyed a fabulous day out. We explored some of the monuments and remembrance memorials on Liverpool waterfront before heading off to the Museum of Liverpool.
In the museum, we were able to investigate our WW1 topic even further. We gained valuable information from the artefacts displayed and the workshop attended. We thoroughly enjoyed hunting around the museum to find the answers for our worksheets.
After lunch, we continued our day out, travelling to Anfield Stadium to attend our Road Safety course. We enjoyed participating in the quizzes and games to ensure we ave a good understanding of how to keep completely safe on our roads.
THE QUEEN'S GREEN CANOPY - 'PLANT A TREE FOR THE JUBILEE!'
This week, we were privileged to meet with the Queen's Deputy Lieutenant, Michael Braham. We joined Year 5 and Year 2 for a special assembly where we learnt all about the Queen, her younger years and how, next year, the country will be celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - 70 years as reigning queen of our country.
The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. Our school is part of this project and we have planted three of the given trees on our school grounds. This planting of trees is to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will also benefit future generations.
ODD SOCK DAY (As part of our ANTI-BULLYING WEEK activities)
FRANK COTTRELL-BOYCE
We had a wonderful afternoon working alongside the famous author, FRANK COTTRELL-BOYCE. We joined Year 5 for a very special assembly where Frank told us all about his life, answered our many questions and read extracts from his many books. He then joined us in our classrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with our famous author.
